Bayer CropScience held a grand opening on Thursday for its new building in Shakopee valued at about $12-million.
The building will house the the SeedGrowth Equipment Innovation Center and Bayer CropScience equipment design and manufacturing business global headquarters. It opened in February.
The center brings together significant technological, scientific and manufacturing resources to support sustainable agriculture initiatives and global product stewardship.
Programs from the center will be used to apply seed treatments and ensure application rates are in compliance with all government regulatory requirements.
The center promotes advanced research and development products, seed coatings, equipment and services to provide holistic agricultural solutions to customers around the world.
The building is 137,000 square feet. It features 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space, 35,000 square feet of office space for research, development and training.
About 50 people work at the center.
