The University of Minnesota’s Minneapolis campus could be getting denser if Chicago-based developer, CA Ventures’ new proposal is approved and moves to fruition.
The development firm is proposing a mixed-use development at 2929 University Avenue, SE which would include a 258-unit apartment complex, 120 room hotel and provide roughly 36,000 square feet of commercial space. According to city documents the commercial space would include a grocery store, restaurant and a liquor store. To support these the development lists a planned 412 parking spaces. The development would be named Prospect Park Station (which coincidently is the same name as the adjacent light rail stop).
The entire development would take up an entire city block in Prospect Park. The area was relatively quiet during the student housing boom for the University of Minnesota, however has recently seen more planned development.
The proposal goes before the city planning commission on August 6th.
